Motecraft

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-04

Motecraft is built around a single principle: your activity inside the app stays on your device. We do not collect personal data, do not require an account, and do not have a server-side profile of you. The sections below describe in plain language what little information moves off-device, why, and how to opt out.

What stays on device

Favourites, recently-played, onboarding flags, and any local user preferences are stored in your phone’s sandboxed app storage. They never leave the device and are not synced to any server.

Anonymous analytics & crash diagnostics

The app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) to collect anonymous, aggregated usage events (e.g. “experience X opened”) and crash reports. These services may collect a randomly- generated installation ID, device model + OS version, app version, and crash stack traces. No personally identifiable information is collected. Data is processed under Google’s privacy commitments at firebase.google.com/support/privacy. You can opt out in Settings → Analytics.

Each event includes a random session identifier (so we can tell five events came from one app open versus five separate opens), a coarse device tier (flagship / mid / budget — never your specific model), a count of how many experiences you’ve marked as favourites (without identifying which), and on iOS, anonymous frame-rate and thermal-state measurements (so we can find experiences that lag on older phones). Crash reports also include the id of the experience that was active at the moment of the crash, so we can fix experience-specific bugs without you needing to file one. None of these values identify you; all of them respect the same opt-out toggle in Settings → Analytics.

Remote configuration

The app fetches lightweight configuration values (version-update gates, feature flags) from Firebase Remote Config. These fetches do not transmit personal data; only an anonymous installation ID is included to allow targeted rollouts.

Catalog overlay

The app fetches a lightweight catalog overlay (which experiences are currently enabled, ordering, tier) from Cloud Firestore. The request is unauthenticated and carries no personal data — it’s a public read of the same catalog every user sees.

App permissions

When you tap Save in the share-card flow, the app asks for write-only Photos access on iOS or uses MediaStore on Android. We use the permission only to write the share card you just chose — we do not read your library. Wallpaper-set on Android uses the standard SET_WALLPAPER permission to apply the bitmap you confirmed. The app does not request camera, microphone, or location access.

Moments — video recordings

The Moments feature records a short video of an experience session (up to 45 seconds) directly from the renderer’s on-screen pixels. We do not use the system screen-capture API and do not request any system permission for the recording itself. The resulting MP4 stays in the app’s private storage and is not uploaded. The Moments tab keeps the three most recent recordings — older ones are deleted automatically as new ones arrive. When you tap Share, the file is handed to your system share sheet; we do not see or proxy the upload to whichever destination you choose.

Motecraft Pro

The app offers an optional Pro upgrade that unlocks higher-quality recording presets and removes the watermark from saved recordings. Payment is processed by the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android); we receive only the receipt confirmation needed to grant the entitlement. We do not handle, store, or have access to your payment method or billing address.

Data retention & deletion

Analytics and crash data are retained per Firebase’s default retention windows (14 months for Analytics; 90 days for Crashlytics). On-device data is removed when you uninstall the app. To request earlier deletion of any server-side data tied to your installation ID, email us at the address below.

Children

Motecraft does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app contains no personalised advertising and no behavioural tracking SDKs. The optional Pro upgrade is purchased through the App Store or Google Play, which apply their own age-gating to in-app purchases.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be surfaced in-app on next launch.
